COOKHAM & DISTRICT ANGLING CLUB

A River Thames-based angling club controlling fishing from Cookham road bridge upstream to Bourne End railway bridge on the south bank of the river. Affiliation to the Thames Valley Angling Association gives members access to several other stretches of the Thames nearby, the Jubilee River, the Slough Arm of the Grand Union Canal, two sections around Oxford plus a stretch of the Wey Navigation Channel near Byfleet, Surrey.

The river at Cookham holds a wide variety of species and has recently produced some exceptional specimens.

Waters available to Cookham members:

 

Cookham Reach, River Thames

South bank upstream from Cookham road bridge to Bourne End railway bridge (excluding the Yacht Club frontage).

Parking in Odney Lane: SL6 9SZ, Cookham Moor National Trust car park: SL6 9SA (now pay & display) or access via Bourne End railway footbridge for the upstream end of venue (involves steps up to the bridge): SL8 5QH

The Club is affiliated to the Thames Valley Angling Association (TVAA) whose members and associates are permitted to fish the following waters – use the what3words app for accurate access points and parking areas.

GENERAL RULES

  • Members must carry their membership card and a current Environment Agency rod licence while on Club waters and must produce these upon request by any other Club member/EA official.
  • The fishing at Cookham Reach extends from the Cookham road bridge upstream to the Bourne End railway bridge on the south bank, but excludes the yacht club frontage. The lawns / Bell Rope Meadow at the downstream end of the stretch is busy with moored boats during the summer and as such, access is limited.
  • No fish to be killed or removed from Club waters.
  • No live-baiting.
  • No fires.
  • Anyone found leaving litter or otherwise behaving in an antisocial manner may be banned from the Club.
  • All local bye-laws to be observed and other water users and members of the public are to be considered.
  • Local venue rules are to be observed while fishing TVAA waters.
  • It is the responsibility of all members to report any breach or suspected breach of Club rules to a Club officer.
  • The holder of this permit is an honorary water bailiff.
